Why testers are highly important for product based companies?

Nowadays we are hearing from different sources and companies, that their developers test their own features/code and they don’t need any QA resource for testing. Also, people usually say, “we don’t need to hire a QA resource, our developers perform all testings and we trust them”

This sounds amazing and extra-ordinary definitely, but gradually you are losing your customers silently, which you are not aware. Not because of your product; because of your product quality.

When you are ready and going to release your product or any sprint without involving any QA resources, by simply trusting your developers’ testing; then I must say that is actually your first step towards your product decline phase. As many times developer left things without properly written tests even sometimes unintentionally they left things as a bug and keep in mind, that there is a huge difference between a QA resource and a developer which you can not cover. As a result, your customer will face problems and gradually that problem will appear on your other customers’ side. If you are running a business or a product manager/owner then you must be aware of the cost and you know how much this is important for you to understand and which may lose your money and customers, as your customer could face a loss due to that problem. If this is happening first time with them then its ok, but if this kind of problems appearing again and again, then it will be a critical point and red alert for you; as after facing these things time to time then they don’t recommend your product to others as well as they will look for some alternatives, and once they found other alternate product, they will leave you.

Remember customers won’t come again and again to test your product. If you neglect them they will neglect you; also don’t think that they will test your product by investing and losing their precious time and money.

In short, someone should be there for a proper testing; who can validate acceptance criteria, user experience, deliverables and especially the quality of your product which should be up to the mark and you cannot compromise as there is a huge competition in market, someone can easily steal your customers and can take your place.

By adding QA/Testers you are not losing your money, that addition will actually give your customers a better experience with quality and gradually this addition will raise your money and profits.

Cheers,
